I received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Patras in Greece, a MSc from the University of Maryland at College Park and a PhD degree from the University of Toronto. I am a co-founder and President of Sysomos a social media monitoring and analytics company headquartered in Toronto. I conduct research in all aspects of data management and analysis. These days I am primarily interested in big data analytics and social media. I have received two best papers awards for my research and served as the research DB track chair for CIKM 2010, as research program co-chair for VLDB 2011 and the Industrial program chair for SIGMOD 2013; also as a member of the G7 at the Creative Distruction Lab at the Rotman School of Business. I was named the 2011 inventor of the year by the University of Toronto (1st prize) and I serve as an advisor at Jolt and Extreme Startups in Toronto.
If you are interested in graduate studies under my supervision, please do not send me an email. I stopped replying to such requests. The department of computer science has a formal application process, consider applying through that process. I do not currently accept international summer interns.
