International Workshop on Information Quality in Information Systems (IQIS 2006) In Cooperation and co-located with ACM SIGMOD 2006 June 30 2006, Chicago USA Organization Helena Galhardas, INESC-ID and Technical University of Lisbon Nick Koudas, University of Toronto Sunita Sarawagi, Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay The problem of poor data quality stored in database-backed information systems is largely widespread in government, commercial and industrial environments. Alarming situations with various information quality problems cannot be ignored anymore and theoretical and practical solutions are pressingly needed. Information quality is one of the hot topics of interest in the academic and industrial communities. The third edition of the International Workshop IQIS 2006 (Information Quality in Information Systems) in conjunction with ACM SIGMOD/PODS 2006 in Chicago deals specifically with data and information quality issues. It intends to address primarily methods, algorithms, massive data processing and analysis methodologies and frameworks for the design of data quality metrics. We invite the submission of original research contributions, industrial papers and case studies relating to aspects of data quality and information quality. The duration of the workshop is one day dedicated to scientific and technical presentations matching the following topics of interests. Topics IQIS's topics include, but are not limited to: - Information quality assessment - Quality-aware query languages - Quality-aware query processing techniques - Metrics for information quality, human centered IQ metrics - Detection of contradictory data, outliers, duplicates, inconsistencies, noise - Mining for patterns of poor quality data - Information quality models - Data cleaning techniques: transformations, reconciliation, enhancement - Quality of multimedia information - Application driven information quality (Bioinformatics, CRM, Web, Geographical, scientific applications) - Economic aspects of information quality - Information Quality Assessment, measurement and improvement - Information quality and trust Paper Formatting Instructions All papers must be original, and have not been published elsewhere. Papers should be in English, no longer than 12 pages for full academic papers and 6 pages for short papers inclusive of all references and figures, formatted for A4 paper, following the ACM SIGMOD proceedings formats. Proceedings templates are available in Word, WordPerfect, and LaTeX (v. 2.09 and 2e). These templates are located at: http://www.acm.org/sigs/pubs/proceed/template.html. Submission Instructions The submission process is divided into three steps: registration, abstract submission and full paper submission (PDF or PS Format).
